A brief introduction
I finished my company life in Korea and started my social life in America. There was no comma in my life and I never thought about my career path. By the way, I dreamed of living in America that I was interested in. And as a result, I came to America. While working, I am interested in making my own things online. such as blogs and Instagram. so I continue to study and challenge myself.
The reason why I started WordPress blog
I can tell you that the reason why I started WordPress blog is. Because I was influenced by bloggers and influencers in the United States. There are many people who create and operate blogs through WordPress in the United States. Unlike Korea, where most blogs consist of Naver blogs and T-Story. So I naturally learned about WordPress blogs. And I learned the advantages of WordPress blogs. So I have been making blogs through WordPress since I first started blogging.
I found it very attractive in that I own it completely. And can freely decorate my blog with the design I want. So I have been studying WordPress blog since 2019.
In addition, I learned that blogs are not just diaries that record lives. It’s an operation I can receive various benefits such as the following.
Personal media sharing their own content
A database that stores content online.
A hub that connects various platforms such as SNS.
A tool that generates revenue through advertising and monetization.
a flyer promoting one’s product or business
So I started blogging without hesitation.

My first blog was Mimablog. In the case of this blog, it was a travel blog containing tourist information and restaurant information. It was when I was living in the United States. The blog had a clear theme, so it was only about the United States. It was a blog that introduced information on American restaurants and tourism that I took pictures of and recommended.
However, since the opening of the blog, it has been difficult for Koreans to visit the United States. Because of the influence of the coronavirus that has been sweeping the world to date. So I decided that it was difficult to keep writing the Mimablog blog, and my first blog, Mimablog blog, ended.
What I learned from my first failure
Specialized Blogs vs Catch Blogs
As I said before, the Mimablog blog was a blog specialized in one genre. And the topic was travel and tourism information.
As I just learned, the blog community in the U.S. divides the genres of blogs into two main categories. They are specialized blogs and catching blogs. The Mimablog blog that I opened for the first time is a specialized blog. That deals with one genre of travel and tourism information in the United States. Therefore, posting posts such as my daily stories and book reviews doesn’t go well with blogs. Because they are not related to American tourism information.
Specialized blogs specialize in one genre, so it is difficult to publish stories other than those about the subject. Besides, what if people no longer look for the subject they’re dealing with? As in my case. It becomes difficult to continue to operate.
Knowledge of WordPress and Basic Coding
The first blog failed, but the experience of opening a WordPress blog in the process was very helpful. Therefore, opening the second blog, USMINDblog, was easier and easier to start than the first time.
At that time, I learned that a certain amount of coding knowledge was required to operate WordPress smoothly. Of course, recently, it is possible to run a wordpress blog without much knowledge. Like things related to the introduction of paid themes to WordPress. However, what I studied at the time is still very useful.

I still lack a lot, but I think about running a blog from a longer-term perspective. And I found it important to write what you want, not what I want to write. I started to study blogs from various angles, including realistic monetization methods for long-term blog operation.
There is not much Korean information on the operation of WordPress blogs. So I still receive information mainly from famous American bloggers and influencers. I would like to do it myself through USMINDblog. And have an opportunity to talk to many people in Korea later.
US MIND
The second blog that started in January 2022 is USMINDblog, referring to the things I failed on the Mimablog. As you can see from the fact that country name is included in the blog name. USMINDblog is a catching blog. It’s where I can post all the things related to me and topics that I am interested in. So as you can see, various genres of writing. Such as blogging, American life, American language, and book review are mixed.
USMINDblog is a blog about my story. Therefore, we plan to operate it over a long period of time. I want to use it as a base camp for active experiments and challenges. It’s about the information you want to share with many people, stories about the possibility of blogs, side project Mimablog activities, and the realization of blogs’ profits.

First of all, sharing useful and valuable information is the primary goal of blogging. It is to organize helpful things from my knowledge and experience and share them with those who need them.

I would like to share the experiences and know-how gained through various attempts to realize monetization. As well as personal branding through the possibility of blog development and connection with other SNS. Also, I would like to share the activity report of Mimablog mentioned earlier in detail through the blog.

I would like to have a process of acquiring and sharing knowledge necessary for the future era. I want to go beyond my existing knowledge and experience. The writings on this theme may be immature and incomplete. But I think it is valuable to share a little knowledge and learn together.
